Ladies Group

The ladies of the parish will meet for their monthly Tea ‘n’ Chat session on the last Friday of the month, 26^th June, in the Garden Room at 2:30 pm. This is a very informal get together for a chat over a cup of tea. It is open to all and all ladies of the parish are very welcome to come along and meet some of your fellow parishioners outside of the church environment. Any ladies from St Marks or Holy Family will be very welcome to come along too – its all very informal, just turn up on the day.

Congratulations

On Friday evening, 5^th June, at a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Peter Collins at St Marks, 14 young people from both St Mark’s and St Mary Magdalen’s churches became full members of the Catholic church when they were sealed with the Holy Spirit receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. Congratulations to Jasmine, Nancy, Mavis, Noah, Philip, Mariya, James, Charlie, Risha, Ethan, Jesse, Ollie, Milena and Christian. Please remember them in your prayers and pray that they may grow in their faith and take a full and active part in the life of the church, of which they are now full members.

Rosemary "Rosie" Shorten RIP

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Rosemary Shorten, widely known as Rosie, who passed away peacefully at home during the night on Monday 25^th May surrounded by her family, having endured a long and difficult battle with cancer. Please remember Rosemary in your prayers and pray also for her family and friends who mourn her passing. Her Requiem Mass will be held at St Mary Magdalen church on Wednesday 1^st July at 12 noon. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Adoration and Rosary

As part of the special Rosary Rally events, this week’s Adoration and Rosary will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday 28^th and not Tuesday. This is open to all – why not come along and join us in the church at 10:00 am?

St Mary Magdalen 150 Club

The May prize draw was made on Sunday 31^st May in the Garden Room after Mass. Congratulations to the winnrers Mrs M Krajewski, Mr & Mrs R Cork, Mrs D Casey and Mr P Clancy. Full results of the prize draw can be found here.

There is plenty of room in the 150 Club for new members - if you are not a subscriber and would like to join there are paper application forms in the church porch and an on-line application form here on the parish website.

Gift Aid

Would all those parishioners who normally make their weekly offering using Gift Aid envelopes please note that their new 2026/27 envelopes are now available for collection from the Narthex. If you can't find your envelope in the box please write your name on the sheet provided for this purpose and it will be made available for collection next week. If you don't currently have a Gift Aid envelope with which to make your cash offertory but would like one, please also write your name on the list and it will be arranged for you. If anyone who has already signed up to giving by Gift Aid has changed their address during the last year or did not pay sufficient income or capital gains tax to cover the tax reclaimable on their offerings then please notify Chis Croker, Treasurer and Gift Aid Coordinator.

Bible Study Group

The Bible Study group sessions continue this week on Thursday 28^th May with a session that will immediately follow Adoration and Rosary, followed by a second session at 7:15 in the evening – both sessions being in the Garden Room. Bible group meetings are open to all – just come along and bring your bible with you. Spares will be available if you don’t have one.

The Shepherd's Voice

The Shepherd's Voice is a series of short pamphlets and reflections by Fr Luke Goymour on a number of different faith topics. These pamphlets are available at the back of church or can be read on line on this web site - click here to find the seven titles in the series.

Congratulations Tom!

You may remember Tom, a young Indian student who was staying in the Presbytery with Fr Mathew during the Covid period.

This week news was received from Fr Mathew that Tom and his wife have been blessed with twins and Fr Mathew has recently baptised them both in India. Pictured here is Fr Mathew with the family. Congratulations to Tom and his wife.

Medjugorje Pilgrimage 2026

There will be parish based pilgrimage to Medjugorje, led by Fr Luke Goymour, taking place from 16^th to 23^rd September 2026.

Flying from Stansted airport, the cost of the pilgrimage includes flights, transfers, 7 nights accommodation in Hotel Leone on a half-board basis and a fully organised religious programme whilst there.

The flight tickets include a luggage allowance of 10Kg per person, but additional allowance can be purchased if required.

Travel from Ipswich to Stansted is not included, but in previous years a private minibus has been organised nearer the time, at additional cost.

The cost of the trip is £849 per person based on sharing a room, and there is an early-booking discount of £100 if booked before November 3^rd.
